I’m going to interrupt my NaNo posts to celebrate my new release, Trouble Ahead, the second book in The Achdus Club series for girls. My author copies arrived yesterday, and I couldn’t stop smiling. In fact, I think I still am. I am incredibly proud of this book. Nothing beats the pleasure of putting your own books on your bookshelf. Now, I know that you may be thinking. Oh, well, it was simple for her ... she is already a writer, and she had contacts, etc., etc.
Am I right? Maybe, just a little bit. (I know this because every writer and aspiring writer has had thoughts similar to this at some point.)
Well, would you be surprised to learn that I spent more than a decade writing books that went nowhere? Manuscripts that piled up, along with rejections letters? No matter how nice some of the rejections were, they still stung. (I’m not even going to talk about the really critical feedback I got when I was just starting as a writer and trying to figure it all out.)
Why am I telling you this today? Because you are taking a journey. With your NaNo participation, with your writing, with your dreams. Keep going, keep writing, keep dreaming.
Yesterday’s NaNo results were not nearly as impressive as day one.
NaNo word count for the day: 1,392
Total manuscript word count: 3,552.
