Welcome to 2017! I know we’re already midway through January, but I'm still trying to figure out where 2016 went. I thought about posting this on January 1, but I realized that for the first week everyone is inundated with blogs, articles and well-meaning advice for goal-setting in the new year. Now that you’ve had two weeks to focus on what matters most (and I hope your writing ranks up there toward the top), it’s a good time to take stock of what you’ve done to advance your writing and where you want to go in 2017.
First, take a moment to figure out what you accomplished in writing in 2016:
Now think about where you want to go with your writing:
Send out query letters. Sell your book and your writing. (Ideally, you are trying to not only sell this one story, but your work in the future as well.)
Yes publishing, newspapers, print media, etc., have changed in recent years. That’s why quality writing is even more crucial now. You need to be your best, and then get out there and show the writing world what you can offer.
